Impressionism, a movement of art that is resulted from a group of Paris artists in the late 1800's. The artists were called the "Anonymos Society of Painters" and what they did was create paintings that depicted modern life. These paintings consisted of normal everday things such as parks, valleys, sunsets, lakes, bridges, buildings, etc. Most paintings were of rural and suburban areas. Although embraced now, Impressionists had a rough beggining. The original artists were mocked and ridiculed because people found the paintings to be "unfinished" or "lazy work" when in reality the paintings were incredibly difficult to make. Claude Monet, arguably one of the most acclaimed artists of impressionism was a founding fouther of the original group, he used a method of light brushwork that gave the paintings a look of "effortlessness" and for that reason people ridiculed him and the art. Impressionism was a movement of art that was looked down upon because it was something new and creative. Society has a tendency to that but also has the sense to recognize real art, even it takes some time and Impressionism is a perfect example of that.
